Heritage Archives of Bangladesh History, located at Rajshahi in Bangladesh, is a depository of important documents, photographs, leaflets, posters, private correspondences, journals and periodicals, magazines, books on local history and audiovisual and digital items related to Bangladesh history and culture.
Founded on individual initiative in 2001, the Heritage specially focuses on (a) social movements i.e., nationalist, democratic, labour, students, peasants, women, Islamic, environmental, human rights movements and (b) agencies of social transformation i.e., NGO’s, entrepreneurial groups, labour migration etc.
The Heritage holdings include, among others, specialized periodicals on about 1700 items, 1500 posters on socio-political movements, 1200 books on 62 out of 64 Districts and paper clippings on 50 classified items.
Heritage: Archives of Bangladesh History provides facilities to researchers on Bangladesh. It also publishes a quarterly journal titled, Sthaniya Itihash. |
